Welcome to King’s Rugby! Founded in 1869, we are one of the oldest and finest clubs in the world, with a long and illustrious history, and one of the biggest societies at KCL. The club currently has three teams competing in highly competitive BUCS leagues.
Our 1st XV is an elite squad and plays in one of the highest league (South Eastern 2A). They are also the London Varsity Champions of 2016, emerging victorious against UCL in front of thousands of fans at Allianz Park. We are proud to have a strong 2nd XV who play in South Eastern 5B, and a social 3rd XV who will be playing in South Eastern 7A.
We accept people studying any subject - medics included - and with any rugby playing ability: our 3 teams allow us to provide a game to everybody who joins! Alongside our on-pitch activities, the club has been actively involved in promoting tolerance and welfare within sport. See us in the Evening Standard: http://goo.gl/1j9M4c.
We look forward to seeing you at training sessions which take place on Monday nights at New Malden Sports Ground. Players tend to catch the 17:07 or 17:37 trains from Waterloo station (normally departing from platforms 15-17), however for more regular training and travel updates we suggest joining or Facebook page.
We kindly ask any players that are considering joining the club to fill out the form below outlining some personal details and basic playing experience.
To keep up to date with our plans in September we recommend joining of KCLRFC Freshers 2019/20 group page: https://www.facebook.com/groups/742057916191700/
University Rugby Scholarships
Rugby at King's College London is represented by the long-standing histories of two separate student rugby clubs - KCLRFC and GKTRUFC (medical school). The sport as a whole has been progressively developed under the 'Focus Sport' programme. Furthermore, the King's College London Men's 1st XV is one of ten Performance Teams supported under the King's Sport Performance Programme.
The King's Sport Performance Programme supports talented student-athletes looking to continue thier sporting development whilst studying at university. In turn the individual becomes a King's Sport Performance Athlete. Over the years many rugby athletes have been part of the programme and King's Sport is proud to have helped them on their journey as a student-athlete. The Performance Scholarships provide comprehensive high performance support which is progressiving year on year. For more information please see - King's Sport Performance Scholarship.
